Welcome to the future of the walking dead! The Earth is freezing over. After a deep space probe returns with information of another habitable planet at the end of our galaxy, a desperate attempt to save mankind is implemented. The Intrepid, a massive starship with a crew of 500, is sent to investigate the world designated E-eleven-two for possible habitation of the human race. The world looks perfect, clear springs, tall mountains, open fields, even the remnants of the planet's native inhabitants still exist, right down to the structures they one lived in. And there are no native species to threaten the newly arrived human population. It's perfect...it's paradise. A mystery arrives in the form of the planet's previous inhabitant's corpses, found frozen under the polar ice caps, thousands of them, all perfectly preserved. The scientists, in their excitement, hastily bring back fifty of the bodies to base camp, each one perfectly preserved and ready to be dissected and studied. As the bodies thaw out and await dissection, first one, then another begins to move, and soon, they start to walk; despite being dead for hundreds if not thousands of years The crew of the Intrepid are about to find out what happened to the natives of E-eleven-two, and are going to discover to their horror that they didn't die out naturally. In fact, there was nothing natural about their demise. The future isn't full of hope...the future is dead.

The author says on his Amazon page that he used to narrate stories to his mom and she'd write them down. Reading that makes me believe he wrote this book when he was 12. I tried to re-read it recently and couldn't finish. Its a really cool concept with poor execution. Its just full of odd stuff that feels like it was written by a little kid.. A starship crew who's uniforms are nearly identical copies of their Marine crew's dress uniforms? If you've met any Marines you'd know why this was absurd. The starship is meant to study and colonize the planet but the planet is so perfect it leaves in a few weeks and takes all the weapons but knives with it because the colonists feel so safe? Earth's resources are almost gone but they intend to create a wax dummy of each crewmember and make the ship into an orbital museum? It's just really weird and naive stuff. I can't really recommend it.Product details

The Dead of Space Brave New World Book 1 Jeremiah Coe Books Reviews
I really wanted to like this one. The concept is not new, but zombies in space is a less-covered sub-genre, and the author has good ideas, but l grammatical errors and unbelievable plot devices made it too hard to suspend disbelief and enjoy the book. For the price, this book needed better editing; missing words, mis-spellings, and a lack of understanding what homonyms are made me give up and return it. This book needed to be priced at $1.99 for the quality of the writing; for the $9.99 that it did cost, I could have had a month of Unlimited and gotten many more better-quality narratives.
This book sucked. Besides the scenario of the plot right at the beginning inserting a survivalist facet by survivors mandating a law to forbid homosexual relations...for the good of mankinds last survivors, and to guarantee a bumper crop of new babies. Are you kidding me? I actually paid $20 for the two...a complete waste. The character develpement is weak, and that definitely includes the zombies. The humans are idiots. The storyline is not believable either. DO NOT BUY!
This is not your typical zombie book. It has much more of a SF feel to it. Though there are some editing errors in the book and a few overused words, all in all, I really enjoyed it. If you're looking for zombies and something a bit different, this one is worth checking out.
This was a book that had a different twist on the genre so I took a chance and bought it and I wasn't dissapointed but neither thrilled however I was enthralled enough to finish the book and even look forward to the next part
I love the whole idea of this book! I have read several, ok all, of this author's work, he never ceases to make me think..."This guy knows zombies personally!" And "He is good at his craft!" He is definitely an inspiration for writers to bring things to new levels of the horror/sci fi genres!!
I really do enjoy a good zombie story and when you mix in a bit of science fiction, well you had me at hello.
This book read a bit like a comic, quick and pretty shallow on character development or gritty detail. Don't want to be harsh on the old graphic novel because I've seen some pretty amazing ones in my time - but you get my point (maybe.)
There was SO much potential to develop on the characters (human or otherwise), the planets, the ship... need I go on? I move through story this expecting each page to give me what I wanted, but it only skimmed the surface.
I guess that the fact that I wanted more was a something of a good thing, but the fact that I wasn't rewarded with it was a little frustrating.
I'm pondering the second installment because, at $9.99... I have to be honest, not sure I'll bite.
